Last month on the blog we visited the Upper and Lower Town districts of Quebec City. Today, we’ll venture outside the city and visit the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Montmorency Falls, and Levis across the St. Lawrence River.
The Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré is about a twenty-minute drive from the center of Quebec City. Saint Anne is the Virgin Mary’s mother and grandmother to Jesus. Saint Anne is also the patron saint of Quebec. Many healing miracles have been reported at the church.
It’s the middle of another hot and humid summer here in Florida. All the heat has me thinking about our visit to Quebec City in December 2012. It was very cold and we loved every minute of it!
We had decided to visit Quebec City after seeing a friend’s vacation photos during the previous summer. We thought she had been in France, so it was quite a surprise to find out she had been visiting Quebec City! I never realized how much “Old World” charm there was in Quebec. Being a lover of Europe’s history and culture, I knew this was the perfect place for me to visit.
