Happy February! The weather this time of year in Florida is spectacular and I try to get out and shoot as much as possible. It does dip down into the colder temps in January which brings the manatees to the springs throughout Florida. The temperature in the springs stays at a constant 72 degrees and the manatees gather regularly. We recently visited Blue Spring near DeLand and there were over 150 manatees in the spring that day.
I photographed this adorable baby with my iPhone and a polarizer attachment. I’ve been really enjoying learning to shoot better photos with my iPhone.
This month’s desktop wallpaper comes from The Garvin House in Bluffton, South Carolina. The Garvin House is the earliest-known home owned by a freed slave along the May River, the home being built by Cyrus Garvin in 1870 with materials spared by Union troops when they burned Bluffton seven years earlier. Garvin most likely had been a slave of Joseph Baynard, whose plantation home stood on the site before being destroyed by federal forces during the Civil War. The home remained in the Garvin family until the 1960s. I really loved the aged wood and haint blue door.
