November 2018 Wallpapers

Angel Oak, Johns Island, South CarolinaThe temps here in Florida have finally started to cool off and it’s been wonderful. This is my favorite time of year to travel and I have lots of trips planned for the next several months.

This month’s wallpaper is of the Angel Oak Tree on Johns Island just outside of Charleston, South Carolina. The Angel Oak is the most magnificent live oak tree I’ve ever seen. The tree is estimated to be 400-500 years old and stands 66.5 ft tall, measures 28 ft in circumference, and produces shade that covers 17,200 square feet. Its longest branch distance is 187 ft in length. Throughout its long lifetime, the Angel Oak has been through all sorts of things: rough weather conditions, earthquakes, and floods. It was badly damaged during Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Still, it endured and has recovered well from the hurricane.

Check out some other incredible live oak trees in my Majestic Trees gallery.

Quebec City’s Winter Wonderland – Part 2

Last month  on the blog we visited the Upper and Lower Town districts of Quebec City. Today, we’ll venture outside the city and visit the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Montmorency Falls, and Levis across the St. Lawrence River.

Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré

The Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré is about a twenty-minute drive from the center of Quebec City.  Saint Anne is the Virgin Mary’s mother and grandmother to Jesus. Saint Anne is also the patron saint of Quebec. Many healing miracles have been reported at the church.

Point Judith Lighthouse at Sunrise, Narragansett, Rhode IslandHappy Fall Y’all as my Southern friends would say! It’s still miserably hot down here in Florida and is not feeling like Fall at all.
