The temps here in Florida have finally started to cool off and it’s been wonderful. This is my favorite time of year to travel and I have lots of trips planned for the next several months.
This month’s wallpaper is of the Angel Oak Tree on Johns Island just outside of Charleston, South Carolina. The Angel Oak is the most magnificent live oak tree I’ve ever seen. The tree is estimated to be 400-500 years old and stands 66.5 ft tall, measures 28 ft in circumference, and produces shade that covers 17,200 square feet. Its longest branch distance is 187 ft in length. Throughout its long lifetime, the Angel Oak has been through all sorts of things: rough weather conditions, earthquakes, and floods. It was badly damaged during Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Still, it endured and has recovered well from the hurricane.
